CropDuster is the black sheep of the Shigawake Music Festival family. The band has had many names in the past, but always keeping “featuring Nathan Hayes” in the title so the public knows at least one of the band members can sing, and to forewarn the public to enter at their own risk. One of the founding members of this revolving door group is David Felker. Having toured with New Shigabon, Forking Around, Red Rocks, Gettin’ Shiggy Wit It, and most recently, The Landsmen, Dave joins CropDuster for the second consecutive year, bringing his out of tune screaming to add to the ensemble of hard rock danceable music that the members of CropDuster are known to shred on stage. Tyler Gilker, wielding a beard that puts the Sheepdogs to shame, mentored under Hendrix, and his guitar style reflects that tutelage. Bass player Michael Felber is ridiculous, and plays in more music festival acts then there are carrots in the gardening competition. For more on Michael, check Ron’s Fantasy and uRockaoke on the artist’s page.
The band rarely dumps out any original material, as they never get much chance to get together before the show, and therefore, never get much of a chance to perfect anything new. However, meetings through Skype, and the last minute social gatherings before the show, allows them to put together the crowd favorites that people love to hum and snap their fingers to. Like Motorhead, Ozzy Osbourne, ACDC, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Thin Lizzy. And so much more hard rocking goodness.
Far from folk, and far from country, CropDuster aims to please everyone from the casual drinker to the hard core partier. They don’t fiddle, and they don’t banjo. But if you promise to let your hair down, they promise to give you a good time.
